We are located in and tested Shade RV against Texas winds. Our trials have easily withstood 70mph winds. Please note this all depends on a proper installation and sizing of our product.
Our product attaches to your RV with a tension based system thus only covers 90% of the RV rooftop.
We have designed our canopy to have many scalloped edges to allow airflow to the A/C units. However, if your A/C units vent straight up we do not recommend the Shade RV. Most units vent out of the side not the top.
Unfortunatly the Shade RV Canopy will not cover the Gray Direct TV Dish that extends 3 feet into the air.
Our shade is self cleaning so if anything gets on it will eventually go away by rain or wind. Bird poop will not effect the level of protection, it will still block heat and keep your trailer cool. If bird droppings get on it they will just dry up and flake off in the wind.
We only offer beige, we tested many colors and the beige material was the most reflective of heat.
Here is a close up of our material, it is made out of a UV Stabilized High Density Polyethylene Monofilament netting. Our straps our made of heavy duty seatbelt straps. Our arches are supported by strong fiberglass rods.
Our product repels 85% of rain, a fine mist comes through the netting of the Shade RV Canopy. This drastically reduces the sound of rain on your roof, you can now carry on a conversation in pouring rain.
If snow accumulates on the Shade RV Canopy just leave it alone, wait for it to thaw, it will return back to its original shape.
Usually you will be able to find a way to strap it down to the sides and avoid the awning, however in some cases its unavoidable. Most of our customers that are full timers attach the top strap and bottom strap to the RV then leave the top straps hanging (so they are not attached in the middle). So when they are using the awning (when there is no high wind) the straps just dangle or rest on the awning. Then if high winds are coming and they need to close their awnings, they will close the awning and attach the bottom strap piece through the buckle of the top strap piece to secure it.
There are a few ways to store your Shade RV Canopy when not in use. The quickest way would be to roll the whole thing up snug like a rug. Another option would be to remove the fiberglass rods that form the arch and fold the material and store them seperately that way.
